Vol. 126 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Guaranteed Turf Price.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will ensure a guaranteed price to private producers of turf in order to stimulate the turf production drive and also protect the general public from price speculation in this type of fuel.

I doubt that there is any necessity, in the circumstances now prevailing, to guarantee a minimum price for turf. There is a certainty of a ready market for all good quality turf offered for sale by producers.

The question of fixing a maximum retail price will be considered if it is found that excessive prices are being charged by retailers.
