Vol. 127 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Bus Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the need for a bus service for Kilmacud Road and Redesdale, Stillorgan, and if he will have arrangements made to have this service provided.

I am informed that Córas Iompair Éireann are prepared to provide this service but that the route would pass over roads which are in private ownership, and the owner has refused permission for the use of the roads for omnibus services.

Could the Minister bring pressure to bear on the owner? The owner in this case is not resident in the country. This matter has been under consideration by the Dublin County Council and Córas Iompair Éireann for a considerable time. No doubt the Minister appreciates the position of residents in that area in present weather. Will the Minister bring pressure to bear on the owner in this connection?

I am fully aware of the attitude of the residents in that area because I have relatives who reside there who have pressed me in regard to this matter. It seems to me that the responsibility in the matter of any approach to the owner rests primarily with the county council.
