Vol. 127 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turf Prices in South Kerry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the inadequate price which is being paid for turf in South Kerry and particularly in the Cahirciveen and Portmagee districts; and, if so, whether his Department will examine the position at the earliest possible date.

I have had an examination made of the supply and price position of turf in the South Kerry area. The result of my inquiries indicates that the prices payable to producers are not inadequate and that, even allowing for the increased production, sales to date compare favourably with those of previous years.
