asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware of the urgent necessity for a maternity hospital in Limerick County Borough; and, if so, if he will expedite sanction to Limerick City Council's plans and specifications for the erection of a maternity hospital at Bellfield, Limerick.

I am aware of the urgent necessity for a maternity hospital in Limerick County Borough.

My Department's observations on the outline specification and plans for the proposed new regional maternity hospital at Bellfield, Limerick, were issued to the local authority on 15th instant and the preparation and submission of working drawings has been requested.
