Vol. 127 No. 2

Questions— Written Answers. - Mayo Employment Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the necessity for the provision of suitable employment schemes for the Ballycroy area of North Mayo and what steps he proposes to take to stem emigration from this district.

As in previous years provision has been made for suitable employment schemes in the electoral divisions of Ballycroy North and South. It is anticipated these works will be in hands in the course of the next few weeks. Regarding the second part of the Deputy's question I would refer him to the reply by An Tánaiste to Question No. 2 on the Order Paper for 31st October. The employment schemes programme represents the immediate contribution of my office towards the stemming of emigration from the area.
