Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clady River (Donegal).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the Electricity Supply Board have as yet completed their survey of the Clady river, County Donegal; and, if so, if they propose proceeding with the development of this river.

As I stated in reply to a Dáil question on 11th July, 1951, the Electricity Supply Board then anticipated that from ten to 16 months would be required to complete the survey of the River Clady. It has, however, been found possible to complete the survey of the river earlier than had been anticipated and a scheme for development is now being prepared.

I understand that the detailed scheme will be ready for submission to the board in about six months, but it is not possible at this stage to indicate when construction work may be commenced.

Am I to understand that the Board have now found it possible to get the survey completed 16 months in advance of the previous date?

They have been able to get the survey earlier than they thought it would be possible three months ago.

I understood that the Minister was informed by the board in July of this year that they did not anticipate they would be able to have the survey completed before a period of 16 months had elapsed. Three months afterwards the Minister is now informed that the survey has been completed.

That is right.
