Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leixlip Lake.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will arrange with the Electricity Supply Board that in future before the release of the waters from the lake at Leixlip, County Kildare, or from any similar lake, the board will consult with (a) the Fisheries Branch, Department of Agriculture, and (b) the respective local boards of conservators so as to obviate any recurrence of the damage caused on the 1st August last.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that arrangements will be made to consult the Fisheries Branch, Department of Agriculture, in future before water is released below normal storage level from any reservoir under its control. It is understood that the Fisheries Branch of the Department of Agriculture will arrange any necessary consultation in such cases with the local board of conservators.
