Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Long Service Medals.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state when it is proposed to provide long service medals for members of the Defence Forces.

The Defence Force regulation governing the award of service medals to non-commissioned officers and men of the forces has been promulgated. Every effort is being made to have the preliminary arrangements completed and the manufacture of the medals put in hands at the earliest possible date.

It is not possible at this stage to say when the issue of the medals will be effected.

Could the Minister say whether it is a fact that the Minister's Party has under consideration the presentation of a very special medal to Deputy Cowan for his loyalty to the Party?

There is another one for Deputy Flanagan.

No doubt the Deputy would shoot his toe off to get it.
