Vol. 127 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Kerry Flooding.

asked the Minister for Finance whether his attention has been drawn to the great damage caused in North Kerry due to the recent heavy flooding of the Rivers Feale and Gale; and, if so, whether he will ensure that any machinery at present lying idle will be sent immediately to this area in order that the work of cleaning and draining the rivers in question may be speeded up.

The first step in the execution of the arterial drainage scheme in the Feale catchment area is the opening up of the estuarine channel. That work requires specially large excavators and all the suitable machines available are at present engaged on it. Additional plant will be introduced and operations will be extended upstream as soon as practicable.
