Vol. 127 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Offaly Bog Roads.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction immediately grants for the repair of bog roads and bog drainage in the Rhode area, Edenderry electoral division, County Offaly, as these improvements are eagerly awaited by the local users of the bogs in the district.

A number of grants have been authorised this year for bog road works in the area mentioned by the Deputy. The present time of the year is not suitable for the carrying out of drainage works. If the Deputy will send me particulars of any individual work he has in mind I will have the matter examined.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say what proposals have been sanctioned? I have been in touch with the Parliamentary Secretary's office but I cannot obtain the information.

That is another question, but I can state that four works have been sanctioned in the electoral divisions of Ballyburley and Croghan in the townlands of Tubberdaly and Togher and two schemes in the townland of Derrycoffey.

Will they be put into operation immediately?

I expect so.
