Vol. 127 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Barley Price Reactions.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the increased price payable to growers for barley will result in an increase in the prices of whiskey, stout and beer; and, if so, to what extent.

Following on increased prices for barley as well as fuel and other items, an increase in the price which distillers may charge for both new and mature whiskey has been sanctioned but this will not result in an increase in price to consumers. Applications in respect of stout and porter are at present under consideration and an announcement in the matter will be made in due course.
