Vol. 127 No. 4

Imposition of Duties (Confirmation of Orders) (No. 3) Bill, 1951—Second and Subsequent Stages.

I move that the Bill be now read a Second Time. Deputies are aware that Orders made by the Government under the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932, have to be confirmed by legislation within eight months. The Orders mentioned in the schedule to this Bill were made on the recommendation of my predecessor last April and are due for confirmation before December next. One of these Orders relates to a duty on abrasives and the other to a duty upon saws and saw blades. I should be glad if the House would facilitate me in getting all stages to-day.

There is no objection.

Question put and agreed to.
Bill passed through Committee, reported without amendment, received for final consideration and passed.
Bill certified a Money Bill within the meaning of Article 22 of the Constitution.
