Vol. 127 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Kerry Milk Supplies.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that milk supplies will be required at Cahirciveen, Portmagee village and other centres in South Kerry during the winter months; and, if so, whether he will request the Dairy Disposals Company to arrange whereby these essential supplies will be made available at these centres.

Mr. Walsh

My Department has been informed of the possibility of milk shortages in South Kerry and, although as indicated by me in reply to a recent question I have no official functions in the matter, my Department will give any assistance required by the local authority in obtaining supplies to relieve any shortages that may occur.

On a point of order, has anybody offered himself to answer for the return of straying sheep to the Fianna Fáil Party, Deputy Flynn?

That is not a point of order.

Is the Minister aware that quite recently the Kerry County Manager made representations to him to send down an inspector who would look into this matter with the County Medical Officer of Health for Kerry? Has the inspector gone down yet?

Mr. Walsh

I have no statutory functions in the matter.

The county manager asked whether that could be done.

Mr. Walsh

We will certainly give any assistance we can but we have no functions in the matter.
