Vol. 127 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bonus for Teachers.

asked the Minister for Education why national teachers who are also university graduates and who hold Árd Teastas certificates have not been awarded the special bonus of £15 per annum to which they appear to be properly entitled.

The award of bonuses for special qualifications is subject to the overriding condition laid down in Rule 108 (10) of the Rules and Regulations for National Schools that a teacher may not at any time be in receipt of a bonus under more than one head. Teachers who are in receipt of a bonus of £20 (Pass Degree) or £30 (Honours Degree) are not, therefore, eligible under the regulations for a further bonus of £15 in respect of Árd Teastas.
