Written Answers. - Price Increases.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of what commodities recommendations for price increases (which were subsequently sanctioned by him) were made by the Prices Advisory Body prior to the 13th June, 1951.

Recommendations for increases in prices and charges were made by the Prices Advisory Body prior to the 13th June, 1951, and decisions had not been given by that date in respect of the following:— Soaps, detergents, packed peas, canned peas, canned beans, beef and mutton, advertising charges (five applications), coke in Cobh, Dundalk, Fermoy, Galway, Enniscorthy, Kilkenny, Monaghan, Thurles, Waterford, Wicklow, Tipperary and Naas. I sanctioned increases in prices in the following cases:—Soaps, detergents, packed peas, canned peas and beans, coke in the 12 cities and towns already mentioned and advertising charges in the case of the five applications.
