Vol. 128 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industries for County Cork.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that there is an urgent need for the establishment of new industries at Passage West and Kinsale, County Cork, and if he will state if he has received any proposals to set up factories in these areas and, if so, the nature of the proposals; further, if he will indicate what assistance his Department is prepared to give in the provision of industries in the towns referred to.

I am aware of the position of these towns and I should be glad to assist and facilitate anybody proposing to set up factories in them. The Government's special interest in these towns will continue to be brought to the notice of industrial promoters. One manufacturer is at present exploring the possibilities of establishing an industry in one or other, but I cannot yet say whether anything positive will result.
