Vol. 128 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Health Insurance Agents.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the amount of the increase recently granted to national health insurance agents and the date from which the increase was granted.

National health insurance agents have been granted the percentage increase applied to the main classes of civil servants earlier this year on the recommendation of the Civil Service Arbitration Board.

The increase is effective from 15th January, 1951, i.e., the date as from which it applied to the general Civil Service.

Is the Minister not aware of the fact that in answer to a previous question, he stated that these increases would be paid before the end of November? Is it not a fact that the increase has not yet been paid?

I am told it has been paid.

I have got a complaint that it has not been paid.

I shall look it up again.

On the assumption that it has not been paid, and bearing in mind the fact that it is retrospective to January, would the Minister arrange that the entire increase would be paid before Christmas or that those concerned would be given an advance on account of it?

Yes. I shall look up the matter again.
