asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of each of the months of 1951 to date the number and value of (a) clay and (b) concrete drainage pipes suitable for land drainage imported and the country from which they were imported.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Drainage Pipes.
Statistics of imports into this country are brought to account in accordance with the headings in the Official Import List which does not provide separate headings for the commodities specified by the Deputy. As regards (a), a statement, showing the quantity (in hundredweights as the numbers are not available) and value of imports in each of the first ten months of this year of "Other earthenware, chinaware and other clay products—pipes and connections, unglazed, not elsewhere specified" under which clay land drainage pipes are brought to account, will, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, be circulated in the Official Report. As regards (b), the imports of concrete land drainage pipes into this country during the period in question are believed to be negligible.
