Vol. 129 No. 1

Private Notice Question. - Minister's Visit to London.

I have given private notice to ask the Minister for Finance whether he is in a position to make a statement concerning the announcement made in the British House of Commons yesterday by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Butler, to the effect that he had accepted an invitation to visit London for talks on the future of the sterling area.

I have received the invitation from the British Chancellor of the Exchequer as referred to by the Deputy, and I propose to visit London for discussions in the early part of next month. It is obviously impossible for me, in advance of these discussions, to make any further statement on the matter.

Is there any request that you should take a tall hat with you on this occasion?

Or take a wooden head like yours.

It is purely a question of the type of wood, apparently.
