Vol. 129 No. 1

Written Answers. - Land Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he can state when it is proposed to divide the Armstrong estate at Chaffpoll, County Sligo, which has been acquired by the Land Commission; further, whether he is aware that one landowner has offered his four holdings of land to the Land Commission in return for a holding on this estate; and, if so, whether he is in a position to state when a decision will be given by the Land Commission on this offer.

Most of this estate was allotted recently and it is expected that the balance will be allotted at an early date. The lands were required entirely for the relief of local congestion and the rearrangement of holdings. There was no surplus land to provide holdings for migrants and the landholder referred to in the second part of the question could not be facilitated.
