Vol. 129 No. 1

Written Answers. - Receivable Orders.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will recommend to the Land Commission that they should issue new receivable orders for collection of annuites in lieu of six-day notices now issued by them.

Six-day notices are issued only in cases where receivable orders have already been issued and due payments have not been made. The notices do not serve the same purpose as receivable orders as they contain a positive warning that proceedings will be taken for the recovery of arrears if the arrears are not paid immediately. Apart from this aspect of the matter it would be undesirable to have more than one current receivable order in existence in respect of any holding. If a receivable order is lost or mislaid, a duplicate can be obtained on request. It is not proposed to alter the present procedure.
