asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether he has any claims for compensation from any wheat growers in County Cork for loss in produce due to unusual weather conditions in 1951; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Growers' Claims.
Mr. Walsh
The answer is in the negative. A few applications from wheat growers in County Cork have been received in my Department in respect of damage caused by the wheat midge. I regret I am not in a position to pay compensation for such losses.
Was there not a public statement made that there was a loss of £677,000 in Cork?
Mr. Walsh

By the Minister's own Party.
Mr. Walsh
——and they are not all true.
I agree with you.
