Vol. 129 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reconstruction of National School.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that proposals for the reconstruction of the national school, Killorglin, have been before his Department for the past 15 years and if, in view of the damage caused to the school by the recent storm, which has rendered it almost uninhabitable, he will convey sanction immediately for the carrying through of this scheme.

A scheme for the extensive improvement of Killorglin Boys' and Girls' National Schools, County Kerry, has been prepared, but certain preliminary arrangements have yet to be made before the Department will be in a position to sanction a grant towards the cost of the works. Every effort will be made to have these arrangements completed as expeditiously as possible.

Investigations are being made as to the damage caused to the school building by the recent storms and the Department will communicate with the manager at the earliest possible date in regard to the carrying out of any remedial works required.
