Vol. 129 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state (a) when the new school at Curraghagalla, at present in course of construction, will be completed, and (b) whether he has sanctioned plans for the erection of the new national school at Clondulane, Fermoy.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that the erection of the new school at Curraghagalla is nearing completion, but that they are not at present in a position to say when the school will be ready for occupation.

The preliminary arrangements which have to be made before a grant can be sanctioned towards the cost of the erection of the new school at Clondulane, County Cork, are nearing completion but, as the attendance at the present school appears to be increasing, it is now considered necessary to provide more accommodation in the new school than was originally proposed. I hope that it will be possible for the Department to make a grant, at an early date, for the building of the new school.
