Vol. 129 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply Schemes.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Local Government when a water supply scheme for Durrene, County Laoighis, will be commenced.

I have no proposals regarding a water supply for the place mentioned in the Deputy's question.

The Deputy may have in mind the townland of Dereen which is in Offaly County just over the Laoighis boundary. An application for sanction to the raising of a loan for the provision of pumps in this and other townlands was received from Offaly County Council in November, 1949, and sanctioned early in 1950.

Mr. O'Higgins

The question I put down related to Durrow, County Laoighis.

We know of no such place.

Mr. O'Higgins

The people of Durrow would be highly offended.

Oh, I beg your pardon. I have no proposals regarding the place mentioned in the Deputy's question.

Mr. O'Higgins

I put down a question in regard to Durrow.

It was not given to me as Durrow.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the long delay in having a water tower erected in Nenagh, County Tipperary.

I understand that tenders have been received by the sanitary authority for their scheme for the improvement of the town water supply of which the erection of a water tower is part. The submission of the sanitary authority's proposals with regard to the acceptance of a tender is awaited.
