Vol. 129 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Ross Housing Needs.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total number of houses still required to meet the needs of New Ross town; and further, if he will state what plans have been made to meet those needs.

I understand that it was estimated in 1943 that an additional 203 houses were required to meet the needs of working-class families in New Ross, but that the county manager considers that the present needs would be about 120 houses. Work is at present in progress on 23 houses and I understand that the council are taking steps to acquire sites for a substantial number of additional dwellings.
