Vol. 129 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Call Office Installations.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the programme of public call office installations for the coming year has been determined; and, if so, if he will state in what areas in County Kildare a public telephone will be installed under that programme.

The call office programme for the coming financial year has not yet been finally settled but it is hoped to have it ready shortly.

It has been decided to complete the whole call office programme in two years instead of four. In order to co-ordinate the general work of the engineering branch changes may be made in the choice of call office installations during the year. I do not propose, therefore, to announce the programme as it is important to give the officers concerned full liberty of action.
