Vol. 129 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the McEvoy estate, Badger Hill, near Rathcoole, County Dublin, was acquired before the emergency, the reason for the delay in dividing the estate, the acreage of the estate, the number of holdings to be allocated and if he will ensure that local applicants only will be allocated portions of this holding.

The McEvoy estate comprising 180 acres, 1 rood, 9 perches in Badger Hill was acquired in 1938. An area of 29 acres, 1 rood, 4 perches on the estate was allotted in 1940. Since then several tentative proposals for the allotment of the area on hands proved abortive and it was not possible to prepare a suitable scheme of allotment. It would be inadvisable and contrary to practice to disclose any information as to the intentions of Land Commission regarding the lands but I can assure the Deputy that due regard will be had to the claims of all local eligible persons and bodies.
