Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Fund.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the income of the Road Fund and the total expenditure therefrom in each year since 1939.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the estimated income of the Road Fund for the years 1951-1952 and 1952-1953 respectively.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 51 and 53 together.

The income of and expenditure from the Road Fund for the financial years 1938-39 to 1949-50, inclusive, will be found in the Department's Annual Reports for the years in question. The audited statement of the accounts of the Road Fund for the year 1950-51 was laid on the table of this House on the 29th January, 1952. The estimated income of the Road Fund for 1951-52 is £3,000,000 and for 1952-53 is £3,500,000.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the basis on which the grants from the Road Fund for the coming year have been allocated for improvement of main and county roads respectively.

The improvement grants for both main and county roads for the coming year were allocated on the basis of each county's main and county road mileage respectively.
