Vol. 129 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed County Kerry Bridge.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that an application was made to his Department for the erection of a bridge at Coolcumisk, Beaufort, County Kerry, and an inspection carried out in 1944 by his inspectors; and, if so, if he will state the reason for the undue delay and indicate when the work is likely to commence.

I am advised that the work in question cannot be economically undertaken during the winter months. It is, therefore, unsuitable as an employment scheme and a full-cost grant cannot be made available.

If the interested parties wish to have the proposal considered under the rural improvements scheme, to which they are required to make a contribution, and will arrange for the submission of an application on the appropriate form, the matter will receive careful consideration. Copies of the form of application were sent to them for this purpose on previous occasions but without result.
