Vol. 129 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Children's Allowances.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider, having regard to the changed circumstances of the present situation, the introduction of proposals for legislation to amend the Children's Allowances Act, 1944, whereby the allowance would be increased to 5/- a week and the present exclusion from payment for the first and second children eliminated.

The question of improving the allowances granted under the Children's Allowances Acts is under examination and I am not yet in a position to make an announcement in the matter.
