Vol. 129 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office for Bracknagh (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the Bord na Móna housing scheme and the other new houses in the area, he will open a new post office and provide a public telephone at Bracknagh, near Rathangan, County Offaly, where there is neither a post office nor a telephone in the area and the local people now desire these services.

In view of the housing development in the Bracknagh area I am having the question of establishing a sub-office there examined.

In view of the fact that Bord na Móna are sponsoring a scheme in the Bracknagh area and that the Offaly County Council have erected new houses in the area, and that the local doctor resides some miles away, would the Minister have the matter sympathetically reconsidered with the least possible delay so that the people in that area may be provided with a telephone service in the near future?

The matter is being considered.
