Vol. 129 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Insurance Premiums.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the investigation by the Prices Advisory Body into the increase in motor insurance premiums has yet concluded, and, if so, with what result.

I am informed by the Prices Advisory Body that it has not yet concluded its investigation into the justification for the increase in motor vehicle insurance premiums which came into operation on 1st December, 1951.

I understand that the body proposes to hold a public sitting in the matter in the near future.

Does the Minister not consider that there has been considerable delay in dealing with the matter?

A great deal of statistical data was necessary before the examination could proceed. That has been collected, I understand.
