Vol. 129 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Great Northern Railway.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when it is intended to introduce proposals for legislation dealing with the acquisition of the Great Northern Railway (Ireland).

I am not in a position to state at present when the legislation dealing with the acquisition of the Great Northern Railway Company will be introduced. There are a number of details to be settled, but I do not anticipate that these will cause any great delay.

Could the Minister give an approximate date because this is causing uncertainty? It would ease that uncertainty if even an approximate date could be given.

I stated before that I hoped the legislation would be passed before the summer recess. The Deputy will appreciate that our proposals here have to be co-ordinated with those in Belfast, and that the time that will take is not entirely a matter for me.
