Vol. 129 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Fenit Island Dwellers.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the storm and high tide last December knocked down walls, tore up the road and covered some of the holdings in Fenit Island, County Kerry, with gravel and shingle which has not yet been removed off the land, as the occupiers are not in a position to do the work; and, if so, if he will now state if his Department will give some relief to these people to make their holdings arable so that they may help in the increased foodproduction drive as in previous years.

While the Land Commission have no liability for the protection of the lands at Fenit Island, it is proposed to have inquiries made as to the present position to ascertain if assistance by the Land Commission is necessary and warranted.
