Vol. 130 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that Lixnaw parish, County Kerry, is the only parish in the North Kerry district to which the rural electrification scheme has not been extended, and further, that a re-canvass of the parish was carried out some time ago; and, if so, whether he will now state when it is proposed to supply the parish with electricity.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the Lixnaw rural area has been considered on a number of occasions already but has so far failed to qualify for selection under the rural electrification scheme. The board further inform me that there is some prospect that development may take place during the next 12 to 18 months.
