Vol. 130 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport of Schoolchildren.

asked the Minister for Education if investigations have yet been completed in connection with the application for the transport of certain children to the Cullina National School, Beaufort, County Kerry; and, if so, with what result.

Investigations in connection with the application for a transport service for certain children in the Cullina School district have not yet been completed. I will arrange to have a communication sent to the Deputy when a decision has been arrived at in the case.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that the schools in the Finglas area are overcrowded at present due to the fast-extending corporation housing scheme and the building of houses by private enterprise; and, if so, if he will make representations to Córas Iompair Éireann to provide transport to bring the children to city schools until the schools are built in Finglas.

I am aware that the schools in Finglas are overcrowded at present in consequence of the transfer of a large number of families from the city to the new housing scheme in that district. I am having the matter investigated with a view to seeing whether it would be possible to arrange to have the pupils for whom school accommodation is not available in the area conveyed by buses to schools in the city pending the completion of the new schools which it is proposed to provide in Finglas.

Mr. Byrne

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that that is the same answer that was given to me a fortnight ago?

It could not be.

Mr. Byrne

It is the very same.

The Deputy is extending his operations to the county.
