Vol. 130 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Subdivision.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have as yet prepared a scheme for the subdivision of the lands in their possession at Clooncon West, Glenamaddy (Record No. 9716), County Galway, and what progress has been made since the previous question by me on the 7th December, 1950.

The Land Commission have no lands in their possession in Clooncon West. Proceedings are in progress for the resumption of four holdings in the townland and, pending the outcome of these proceedings, the rearrangement of the other holdings cannot be undertaken. In one of the cases, the resumption proceedings are nearing completion and in the other three cases, petitions against resumption are pending for hearing.

asked the Minister for Lands whether, in view of the urgent need for tillage, the Land Commission will proceed immediately with the subdivision of the Rabbitt lands at Cronhill (Record No. S. 9367), County Galway, amongst the congests who are anxiously awaiting the scheme.

Mr. Boland

It is expected that the lands in question will be allotted this month.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission will have a scheme prepared for the subdivision of the Costello and O'Brien lands at Brierfort Isabella Hawe estate, County Galway.

Mr. Boland

The scheme for the allotment of these lands will involve the rearrangement of holdings and will take some time to complete. It is unlikely that the Land Commission will be in a position to allot the lands this season.
