Vol. 130 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Newbridge Housing Grant.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state on what date an application for a reconstruction grant under the Housing Acts was received from a person residing at Tankards Garden, Newbridge, and what is the cause of the delay in paying the grant.

Application for an instalment of the grant was made on 29th October, 1951. It was ascertained that the permission of the planning authority to carry out the work had not been obtained. This permission was obtained on 21st December, 1951, and the file was referred to the Department's inspector. A certificate for payment of an instalment was received on the 29th March, 1952, from the inspector who reported that he had previously made two unsuccessful attempts to meet the applicant.

Arrangements will be made for payment of the instalment at an early date.
