Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authorities (Works) Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) what sum of money was (a) asked for by the Kerry County Council, and (b) sanctioned by his Department under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, during each of the financial years ending 31st March, 1950, 1951 and 1952; (2) what portions of these moneys were allocated to South Kerry; (3) how much has been (a) requested, and (b) sanctioned for Kerry under the same Act for the year ending 31st March, 1953, and (4) how much has been allocated for South Kerry.

As the reply includes a series of statistics, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report. Following is the statement:—

(1) Estimated cost of schemes submitted:—

(2) Amount of grants allocated, exclusive of the special allocation for works ancillary to the land rehabilitation project:

(3) It was left to the county council to decide on the applications of the grants to approved schemes in the county. Particulars of the amounts allocated in South Kerry not available.

(4) No proposals for the 1952-53 programme yet submitted. Exact amount of grant which will be allocated to the council for 1952-53 not yet fixed.
