Vol. 130 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relative Prices.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the sum of money that would be required to purchase at mid-February, 1952, the same quantity of goods as could be purchased for £1 in mid-February, 1939, calculating prices in both cases by the official cost-of-living index figure.

It is estimated that £2 1s. 10d. at mid-February, 1952, would purchase the same quantum of essential goods (including rent) at retail prices as £1 would have purchased at mid-February, 1939.
