Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - An Bord Iascaigh Mhara.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (a) the names and addresses of the newly-appointed members of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara; (b) the salaries and perquisites attaching to the various appointments; (c) the nature and scope of the duties to be performed by each member; (d) the qualifications of each of the appointees which fit them for such appointments.

The names and addresses of the members of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara are as follows:—

Mr. Seamas Ó Mealláin

Fisheries Branch, Department of Agriculture Chairman.

Mr. Seán Myler

40 Charleston Road, Dublin.

Mr. Liam Ó Cléirigh

2 O'Connell Terrace, Arklow, Co. Wicklow.

Mr. John B. Healy

Solicitor, Cahirciveen, Co. Kerry.

Mr. Peadar J. McDonnell

Derrylahan, Newcastle, Co. Galway.

Mr. Albert S. Swan

Killybegs, Co. Donegal.

The fees and travelling allowances to be paid to the members in accordance with paragraph 2 (6) of the First Schedule to the Sea Fisheries Act, 1952, have not yet been settled. The duties of the members acting collectively as the board are to perform the functions given to the board under Sections 14 and 15 of the Act. Each member was selected for appointment to the board having regard to his experience in the fishing industry or in the spheres of commerce or general administration so that the board as a body would have the necessary qualifications to carry out successfully the various functions assigned to it.
