Vol. 131 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Insurance Premiums.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has yet received a recommendation from the Prices Advisory Body on the investigation into motor insurance premiums; and, if so, if he will indicate the nature of the recommendation.

I have not yet received a recommendation from the Prices Advisory Body on the investigation into motor insurance premiums. I have been informed by the body, however, that, following a public inquiry held on 1st and 2nd April, 1952, it had prepared a report in the matter. Before the report could be presented to me, the Accident Offices Association, whose members constitute the great majority of insurance companies operating in this country, furnished to the body new information as to the motor insurance experience of its members in this country in the year 1951. This new information necessitates further consideration of the position by the body and the submission of a report was, accordingly, postponed.
