Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Acreage.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state what acreage of wheat was sown in each year in Ireland from 1931 to 1951, inclusive, and what quantity of native wheat was delivered to Irish flour and wheatenmeal mills in each of these years.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement containing the desired information as far as it is available.

Following is the statement:-

IRELAND.

AREA under wheat on the 1st June in each year from 1931 to 1951 and the quantity of native wheat delivered to flour and wheatmeal mills.

NOTE.

The figures given above differ from those supplied to Deputy Dillon in answer to a parliamentary question on 30 January, 1952 (Dail Debates, Vol. 129, No. 1, cols. 170-1) in that (a) the above figures exclude deliveries to permit holders which were included in the earlier reply, (b) for the years 1936/37 to 1951/52 inclusive inter-mill sales of native wheat have been eliminated from the figures for flour mills included above. This second adjustment had not been made in respect of the years 1935/36 to 1947/48 inclusive in the former reply.
