Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prices of Hides and Skins.

Mr. Dillon

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what prices were payable for hides and skins prior to the making of the revised scale of prices recently published, and what are the corresponding prices in the revised scale.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the desired information.

Following is the statement:—

The prices payable prior to the making of the revised scale of prices were—

	First Grade	Second Grade	Third Grade
	Clear	Warbled	Clear	Warbled	Clear and Warbled
Ox, Heifer and Cow	12d.	11½d.	11½d.	10½d.	10d.
Bulls	10d.	9½d.	9½d.	8½d.	8d.

The corresponding prices in the revised scale are—

	First Grade	Second Grade	Third Grade
	Clear	Warbled	Clear	Warbled	Clear and Warbled
Ox	12d.	9d.	10½d.	7½d.	6d.
Cow	9d.	6d.	7½d.	5d.	4d.
Bulls	6d.	5d.	5d.	4d.	3½d.

Prior to the recent revision there were no agreed prices for calf skins or pelts. The following prices have now been fixed for the descriptions shown:—

Veals (17 lb. up):

First and Seconds	—Heads on, 13d.—Heads off, 15d.
Thirds	— ,, ,, 10d.— ,, ,, 12d.

Slaughtered Calf (16 lb. under):

Firsts and Seconds	—Heads on, 15d.—Heads off, 17d.
Thirds	— ,, ,, 12d.— ,, ,, 14d.

Casualty Calf:

Firsts and Seconds	12d.
Thirds	10d.
Rejects	5d.

Casualty Slinks:	Slaughtered Slinks:
Firsts and Seconds	8d.	11d.
Thirds	6d.	9d.
Rejects	3d.	4d.

Kip and Casualty Grassers:	Slaughtered Grassers:
Firsts and Seconds	5d.	6d.
