A request was received in my Department that an Order should be made under Section 3 (1) (b) of the Undeveloped Areas Act, 1952, to bring Skibbereen urban district within the scope of that Act to enable An Foras Tionscal to grant assistance for a project to be located there. An Foras Tionscal has been asked for its views as to whether the project is one which might possibly qualify for assistance under the Act. I have not yet received the views of An Foras Tionscal and, consequently, it has not been possible to deal with the application submitted to the Department.
