Vol. 132 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leasing of Foreshore.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether his Department are yet in a position to sanction a lease of the foreshore sought by the Clonakilty urban council for a refuse dump, with a view to creating a public playground for children.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to his question on this subject on 31st October, 1951. Since that date, there has been correspondence with the Clonakilty Urban District Council, but all the information required to deal with the application was not received until 28th April.

On 9th May the urban district council were requested, in accordance with the requirements of Section 19 of the Foreshore Act, 1933, to advertise their application in the local newspapers, affording any persons interested an opportunity to submit their representations to me within a period of three weeks. The notice appeared in the local papers dated 29th and 31st May. As soon as the period for making representations has expired, the matter will be dealt with immediately.
