Vol. 132 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deliveries of Limestone.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to the fact that deliveries of ground limestone to the Laragh, Stradone, County Cavan, area have not been fulfilled, with very serious effects to the farmers concerned; and, if so, if he will have steps taken to afford the necessary facilities to enable those landowners to get the supplies they so urgently require.

Mr. Walsh

I am aware that during the present sowing season the various grinding plants were unable to meet the demand for ground limestone and I am at present considering proposals to overcome this difficulty. As I have stated previously, the position during the periods of peak demand would be considerably eased if the liming of grasslands was carried out in the summer months.
