Vol. 132 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Offaly School.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that there is great need for the supply of water to Bunn National School, Cloghan, County Offaly; and, if so, what steps will be taken to deal with the matter.

I am aware that there is not a suitable water supply conveniently near to Bunn National School, Cloghan, County Offaly. I am advised that in cases such as this where a public water supply would serve households in the district as well as the school the responsibility for its provision rests on the local authority.

My Department is inquiring from the local authority whether it will be prepared to sink a well and erect a pump in the vicinity of the school and to defray the cost from the funds at its disposal.
