Vol. 132 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Examination Fees.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the increased cost of living and travelling expenses, he will increase the allowances and fees payable to superintendents of examinations held at Easter week; and, if so, if he will make them retrospective to Easter, 1952.

The question of the fees to be paid to superintendents of the examinations conducted during Easter week each year by the primary branch of my Department is at present receiving attention. I cannot say at this stage whether any increase will be made in the fees or whether if such increase were made it would be retrospective to 1952. I may add that applications from teachers to act as superintendents at the examinations in 1952, and the appointments made, were on the basis of payment of the existing rates.
